The first major conflict of the first English Civil War.
"Cavaliers"
The battle begins
Royalist artillery takes an early hit
Royalists redeploy cavalry
Essex's forces remain strong in the center
Cavalier casualties
Roundhead losses
Victory for the Parliamentary forces under the Earl of Essex
Never place military miniatures on consignment. Nevertheless, these units will be remounted before the next WARG ECW battle.
Order of Battle: both sides, 6 infantry (3 pike & 3 musketeers), 2 cavalry and 1 artillery. Victory condition: "The Royalists must sweep the field of the Parliamentarians."
A sound victory by Parliamentarian forces by the looks of it.
ReplyDeleteIt was closer than it looks. The King's musketeers in the center woods really created a problem in mid to late game. And, the Earl of Essex made a major mistake by committing his cavalry into a needless assault on his right flank.
DeleteWhat are the white hand-written cards on each player's baseline used for?
ReplyDeleteActivation cards similar to Borg's approach in C&C

DeleteKaptain, what are your thoughts on allowing units with Pikes in wooded hexes ? My new mounting will include units that are simply muskets and units with pike and muskets.
DeleteGood morning Rick. I've enjoyed reading your reports of battles with your WARG rules very much. Would it be possible to obtain a copy?
ReplyDeleteBest wishes, Arthur
Arthur, I will get to the rules and the card activation examples in next post
